RubyJoyful Band Pose On The Stage

Original Folk Americana Music From the Mountains of Colorado

Meet The Artists & Their Debut Album

The Pie Chart of Love is the debut album from RubyJoyful. The band formed officially in 2022, founded by singer/songwriter Dan Rubinoff and bassist Joice Moore to showcase their original music inspired by their passion for Americana music and their love for each other. It began with an extraordinarily beautiful romance in the mountains of Colorado, filled with amorous letter writing and heartfelt works of art, including Dan’s first large canvas, which the album is named after. All of it leading to the writing of some of the sweetest new songs heard this side of the Rockies.

These twelve original tunes tell the universal story of love, yet each one embodies the personal and unique experience of Joice and Dan’s partnership. However gracefully first created on Dan’s Martin HD-28, the songs were truly brought to life by the stunning musicianship of RubyJoyful’s members and contributors: the father/son duo of guitarist Eli Emmitt and mandolin extraordinaire Drew Emmitt, banjo aficionado Andy Thorn, fiddle master Stuart Duncan, Rob Ickes and Scotty Sanders on dobro, drummer David Alderdice, percussionist Eric Darken, Michael Webb on piano, Justin Schipper on pedal steel, Joice Moore, Chris Donahue and Steven Vidamour contributing on upright bass, Laura Donahue, Chris Roberts and Abby Siler for additional vocals, and our friend, esteemed engineer and co-producer Marc Meeker. We invite the listener to sit back and melt into the music that is…

RubyJoyful.

Guitarist-vocalist Dan Rubinoff likes to joke that it only took him 50 years to write a good song. But once he did, he knocked out a bunch — 12 of which have landed on Pie Chart of Love, the stellar debut album Rubinoff and his partner, bassist-vocalist Joice Moore, will be released on May 10th as the duo RubyJoyful. The Colorado-based outfit will begin a spring tour that night with a performance at Steve’s Guitars in Carbondale, CO, that includes Leftover Salmon’s Drew Emmitt and Andy Thorn, Emmitt’s son, Eli, and Grammy-nominee Rob Ickes on dobro.

Rubinoff, a Pittsburgh native who moved to Colorado for college and never left, built a career as an educator, outdoor guide and avalanche dog trainer, along with his musical pursuits. Moore, who relocated from Albuquerque to join him there seven years ago, established and runs the nonprofit Healthy Families Colorado. They’re reveling in creating the second chapter of their lives together — including playing beguiling, Garcia and Prine influenced music, writing songs of love and wonder, and playing music at Children’s Hospitals for patients, parents, and overworked staff.
